Nicolas Cage: Childhood
Nicolas Cage was born in Long Beach, California.
His parents are literature professor August Floyd Coppola and dancer/choreographer Joy Vogelsang but they divorced when he was twelve.His family is made up of several movie actors, directors and producers which is why he changed his surname, to avoid favouritism.
He attended Beverly Hills High School as well as the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television.

Nicolas Cage: Acting Career
Nicolas Cage started out his acting career with minor roles including in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' as well as making appearances in two of his uncle Francis Ford Coppola's films 'Rumble Fish' and 'Peggy Sue Got Married'. Making his big screen debut at the tender age of 18, Nicolas Coppola saw most of his work land on the cutting room floor.
This taste of fame was just a stepping stone to bigger and better things.His first big movie in 1987 was 'Moonstruck' which landed him with a Golden Globe nomination.He had other smaller hits in the shape of Martin Scorsese's 'Bringing Out the Dead' in 1999 and Ridley Scott's 2003 'Matchstick Men' in 2003.His biggest movies include 'Leaving Las Vegas' in which he won an Academy Award for playing an alcoholic, 'Adaptation' in which he starred as Charlie Kaufman as well as 'Ghost Rider', 'National Treasure', 'The Rock' and 'Face/Off'. He garnered much success also from sci-fi end-of-the-world movie 'Knowing' in 2009.He had roles in 'Lord of War', 'The Weather Man' and 'The Wicker Man' which didn't fare too well among critics.In 2013, he is set to voice the character of Crug in animation movie 'The Croods'.

Nicolas Cage: Other Career Ventures
Nicolas Cage made his directorial debut with the low-budget movie 'Sonny' which starred James Franco in 2002.He and his son Weston created a comic book together called 'Voodoo Child' which got published through Virgin Comics (now Liquid Comics).

Nicolas Cage: Personal Life
Nicolas Cage has had relationships with Christina Fulton in 1988 with whom he had his first child, son Weston, in 1990; Patricia Arquette whom he was married to for six years from 1995 to 2001; Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley's daughter, with whom he was married for 3 months; and finally Alice Kim who he married in 2004 and now has a second son, Kal-El, with. He has owned several luxury properties including a home in Malibu, a Bahamas property and island, a Rhode Island manor and two castles. He was accused of not paying federal tax in 2009, failing to pay over $6.2 million in 2007 and $350,000 from 2002 to 2004. In response, the actor filed a $20 million lawsuit against his business manager Samuel Levin for not taking care of his tax bills correctly accusing him of negligence and fraud. Levin filed a counter-lawsuit insisting that he had previously urged Cage to curb his spending.
In 2009, he was sued by former girlfriend Christina Fulton for $13 million and the house she is living in after she was asked to leave the property due to Cage's financial problems.
In 2011, Cage was arrested for suspicion of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public intoxication in New Orleans when he reportedly grabbed his wife while drunk. A $11,000 bail was eventually posted by former bounty hunter Duane 'Dog' Chapman. Charges were later dropped.
